Albert Wayne Shelley, 80, of Augusta, GA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock a.m., Friday, March 27, 2026 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC. Burial will follow at two p.m. in the Shelley Family Cemetery, 2112 Silver Bluff Rd., Aiken, SC 29803 with military honors accorded. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
Born in Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late Albert Owen Shelley and Cleo Howard Shelley and was married to Lillian Ruth Shelley. He was a very active member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church where he helped with the audio/visual needs, drove the church van, active in the Mission Group “Eternally His” and previously served as a deacon. He retired as a lineman from Southern Bell having worked for 21 years. He was an U.S. Air Force Veteran having served in Vietnam. He enjoyed baking pies and cakes and was also very handy with electrical and plumbing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Lillian Ruth Shelley; his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly (Dean) Gaskins of Aiken, SC; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael Wayne (Janet) Shelley of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren, Andrew, Cash, Grace, Laura and Samuel and a great grandson, Luke.
