A Celebration of Life Service for Wayne Dwight Grubbs, 75, of Hilda, SC will be held at 12 o’clock noon, Wednesday, October 23, 2024 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Ted Still officiating. The family will receive friends from eleven a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Mr. Grubbs passed away at his son’s home on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
The family of Mr. Grubbs would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Nurses, Tabitha and Daniel and Edisto Hospice and his Caregiver Sabrina “Pumpkin” Grubbs for the love and care show to them during this very difficult time.
Born in Barnwell County, SC he was a son of the late David Samuel Grubbs and Estell Darnell Grubbs and was married to Bonnie Still Grubbs for the last 56 years. Wayne was a backhoe operator and retired as a foreman from the SCDOT after 35 years of service to the community. He enjoyed operating heavy equipment and won several trophies at the backhoe operators shows at the state fair. Wayne was a faithful member of the Country Corner Club where he would see his friends, make sure the employees arrived safe and could often times be seen in the back cooking bacon and helping to get everything ready for breakfast. He was always going from place to place buying, borrowing and sharing things and was the type of person you wouldn’t have to look for, he would always come see you.
Survivors include his loving wife, Bonnie Still Grubbs of the home; his son, Dwayne (Sabrina) Grubbs of Olar, SC; two daughters, Janice (Joseph) Gainey of Barnwell, SC and Lisa (Rojelio) Barajas of Barnwell, SC; his grandchildren, Brittany Still, Brandon Grubbs, Mackenzie Truitt and Haley Grubbs; a great-granddaughter, Jade Strickland and his sister, Barbara Ann Grubbs.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Margie Joyner and Betty Still and his brother, Sammie Grubbs.
