Virgel James Still

Funeral services for Virgel James Still, 81, of Olar, SC will be held at eleven o’clock a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Georges Creek Southern Baptist Church with the Reverend Ted Still officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m., Monday, June 21st at Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be sent to Georges Creek Southern Baptist Church, 4767 Govan Hwy., Olar, SC 29843. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Eaves, Mike Sanders, Ray Sanders, Nathan Still, Patrick Still and James Zorn. Virgel passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021.

Born in Barnwell County, he was a son of the late Mayfield Still and Corrie Dyches Still and was married to the late Shirley Jean Sanders Still for 63 years. He was a member of Georges Creek Southern Baptist Church where he served in numerous capacities throughout the years, He retired from Dixie Narco where he was a utility supplier and mechanic for many years. He was a “jack of all trades”; he could build anything. Virgel loved to play and listen to music and loved flowers. He also served in the Barnwell County National Guard where he achieved rank of E-5.

Survivors include his daughters, Beth (Dennis) Collins of Elloree, Sharon Fail of Barnwell; son, Kelly (Denise) Still of Olar; a brother Marvin Still of Ft. Pierce, FL; grandchildren, James (Nancy) Zorn, Amy DeGilaido, Jeremy (Robin) Eaves, Brandy Nicole (Jason) Fail, Henry Allen (Brandi) Padgett, Jr., Shovone (Duffy) Bolen, Patrick Kelly (Sarah) Still, Nathan James Still; 22 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister Retha Mae Jamison and his brothers Cecil, David, Samuel, Willard and Manning Still.
