Venning Nolte Obituary

Funeral services for H. Venning Nolte, 74, of Williston, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Sunday, February 21, 2021 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with Reverend Paul Rideout officiating; burial will follow in the Williston Cemetery with Masonic Rites accorded. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday. Due to the current pandemic and the CDC regulations, social distancing and other guidelines will be in place; facemasks are requested. The service will be live-streamed on our Official Folk Funeral Home - Live Stream Facebook page for those unable to attend. Box 885, Williston, SC  29853 or the Williston Cemetery, P.O. Box 367, Williston, SC  29853. Venning passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021.

Born in Charleston, SC, he was a son of the late Harold W. “Dutch” Nolte, Sr. and Julia Mae “Julie” Tharin Nolte. He was a member of the Blackville United Methodist Church, the Hope Masonic Lodge #126 and the National Engineering Honor Society. He was an Eagle Scout, Life Master Mason and Golden Glove boxer. Venning was a 1964 graduate of Rivers High School in Charleston, SC; he attended Clemson University and transferred to The Citadel as a Veteran Student; he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering. Venning served four years in the US Coast Guard having served in Vietnam. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. Throughout his 28 year career at E.I. DuPont and Savannah River Site, he worked as an Electrician, Engineering Aid, Design Engineer,  Day Shift Supervisor, Senior Supervisor,  Area Supervisor in the Electrical and Instrument Department and the Chemical Separations Area. In 2002, he retired from Savannah River Site as a Process Engineer in the Project Department.

     Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years Caroline Bomar Nolte; his sons Charles (Christie) Nolte and Chris (Daneka) Nolte all of Loganville, GA; daughter Dawn Pennington of Columbia, SC; sister Julie N. Strawn of Summerville, SC; brother Ron T. Nolte, Sr. of Walterboro, SC; grandchildren Ryan, Hudson, Brayden, Abby, Jacey, Alyssa, John, Gunner, and Wyatt Nolte; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, a great-great nephew and his 4-legged buddy Cracker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Harold W. Nolte, Jr.
