Tommy Landis Obituary

Funeral services for William Thomas “Tommy” Landis, 83 of Williston, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverends Jamie Wootten and Carl Kleinholz officiating; burial will follow in the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be given to Gentiva Hospice, 1690 University Pkwy., Aiken, SC 29801 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Park Rd., Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.  Tommy passed away at home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Gentiva Hospice and his caregiver, Justin Folk for all of the love, care and concern that they have shown Tommy.

Born in Hickory, NC, he was the son of the late Woodie William Landis and Eula Mae Richards Landis. He was a member of Winfield Heights Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon. Tommy earned an Associate Degree from Piedmont Tech. He made Williston, SC his home in 1968 and was married to the late Gloria Jean Mattison Landis for 47 years. He retired from the SC Department of Education as a mechanic in the School Bus Department having worked in Aiken and Blackville as a supervisor. Tommy’s passion was working and racing dirt track cars for many years. He also enjoyed going to tractor pulls.  He was owner of TNC Quick Lube and Fireworks in Williston, SC.

Survivors include his daughters, Rhonda L. Bolen and Pam L. (Jamie) Fields all of Williston, SC; grandchildren, Kenny (Hillary) Bolen, Mattison Bolen, Tucker Fields and Allie Jean Fields; great grandchildren, Robert Andrew Bolen, Kenneth Graham Bolen, Bailey Gray Bolen and Aiden Moore; a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy L. (Chick) Williamson of North Augusta, SC along with a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Gloria Landis, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ken Bolen.
