Thomas Elliott “Tommy” Autrey, 58, of Pelion, left this Earth to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. Born in Columbia, SC on March 23, 1962, he was the son of Joe Thomas Autrey and Reba Gainey Autrey. He was a faithful and devoted son and father.
He is survived by his wife Angela Autrey and son Benjamin Autrey; brothers, Danny Autrey (Betty) and Russell Autrey (Michelle). Father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Linda Ebron, sisters-in-law Laurie Ebron and Susan Bishop (Brian); brother-in-law Jason Ebron, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Harvey J. and Rosie V. Autrey and Walker and Sadie Gainey.
He was a member of Alpine Baptist Church and attended Wayside Baptist Tabernacle.
He was a professional truck driver and worked for C. R. England, but his true passion was music. He was the founder, bassist, and vocalist for “Along for the Ride”, having received the SC Band of the Year in 1995 and 1996. He also enjoyed fishing among other activities. He was a diehard Clemson fan, but what he loved most was being with his family.
The service will be held at Wayside Baptist Tabernacle, Pelion, SC with Rev. Grover Williams and Rev. Charles Starling officiating on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. We will be following the CDC regulations due to Covid-19.
