Sybile (Bodiford) Lain

Sybile Bodiford Lain, 88, of Barnwell, SC passed away at home on Monday, October 20, 2025. Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2025 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverends Jeffrey Ray and Kyle Harding officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Santinno Knight, Lyle Knight, Lance Keller, Stan Zorn, Quentin Chavis and Keith Thomas. Memorial contributions may be given to Friendship Baptist Church, 2381 Green Branch Rd., Barnwell, SC 29812.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Trinity Hospice caretakers Janelle, Beth, Fay, Katelyn and Kyra for all of the loving care and kindness that they showed Sybile during these last few weeks. Also, a special thank you to Diane, Crystal, Anna, Ann and Arie for all of their attention and care in helping with their loved one.

Born in Barnwell County, SC, she was a daughter of the late McLaurin “Mack” Bodiford and Elma Ruth Ayer Bodiford. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was active in her younger years. She retired from Shuron as a lens crafter and also owned and operated Lain’s Cloth Shop in Barnwell for a number of years. She loved living on her farm and raising livestock and especially loved her dog, Bream.

Survivors include her daughter, Abigail Piatt (Keith) of Barnwell, SC; grandchildren, Brad Lain and Jessica Lain; great grandchildren, Madyson Keller, Anna (Santinno) Knight, Cameron Peeples, Christen Workman and Mason Workman; great, great grandchildren, Lance Keller and Lyle Knight; sisters, Nellie Rosier, Arie (Bill) Murphy, and Dianne Barber; brothers, Jacky Bodiford, James (Faye) Bodiford, Donnie Bodiford and Roy Bodiford; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Lain; sisters-in-law, Alma Bodiford and Peggy Bodiford and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Russell Lain; a son, Barry Lain; grandson, Rusty Peeples; brothers, Ray Bodiford, McGee Bodiford and a brother-in-law, Bill Barber.
