Sherwood Carl Helmick

    A Celebration of Life Service for Sherwood Carl Helmick, Sr., 67, of Barnwell, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Friday, December 3, 2021 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with Chaplin Dexter Lambert officiating. Sherwood passed away at home on Sunday, November 28, 2021 after a brief illness. The family has asked that Memorials be made to Hospice Promise Foundation, 901 Hugh Wallis Road South, Lafayette, LA 70508.

    Born in Richwood, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Melvin Helmick and Ruby Annalee Hartless Helmick. Sherwood worked construction most of his life and loved to build and tinker with most anything.

  Survivors include his children Rebecca Jones and Sherwood Helmick, Jr. both of Barnwell, the mother of the children, Debra Johnson; his grandchildren Debra Miller (Kyle), Sherwood “Bubba” Helmick, III, Nicholas Jones and Klaytin Helmick; two sisters, Dixie Grieson and Rebecca Johnston; his brothers, Melvin (Margaret) Helmick, Jack (Nancy) Helmick and Frank (BeBe) Helmick and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra May Helmick; a sister, Donna Sue Helmick and brothers, Thomas Helmick and Billy Helmick.
