Sandra Amelia Scott

A Celebration of Life Service for Sandra Amelia Scott of Denmark, SC, 80, will be held at two o’clock p.m., Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the First Baptist Church Denmark, 433  S Beech Ave., Denmark, SC with the Reverends Matt Thomas and Andy Hunter officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the church courtyard. The service will be live-streamed on the FBC Denmark Facebook page for those unable to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to FBC Denmark, Attn: Water Project P.O. Box 325, Denmark, SC 29042. Mrs. Scott met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ face to face on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

Born on April 29, 1941 in Bamberg County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Robert Manning Abstance and Sara Hightower Abstance and was married to the love of her life, John Edward Scott Sr., for nearly 62 years. Mrs. Scott was a faithful USAF wife and loved traveling the world with her airman husband. She was a gifted seamstress and baker who delighted in doing for others and retired as a bookkeeper from James Heating and Air. Mrs. Scott was an active member of FBC Denmark for many years. She served in many capacities including Chairman of Deacons and Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed going on mission trips and serving where needed. “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” (Proverbs 31:29 NIV)

Survivors include her loving husband, of the home; her children, John (MaryAnn “Bre”) Scott, Jr. of St. Helena Island, SC, Terri (Eric) Hannold of Jacksonville, FL and Suzanne  (Robbie) Kinard of Columbia, SC; a brother, Robert “Bobby” (Vicki) Abstance of Denmark, SC; three grandchildren, John (Katie) Scott, III, Amy (Billy) Davis and J.R. Kinard; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Davis and Caroline Scott. “Her children arise and call her blessed.” (Prov 31:28 NIV)

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sara Virginia Abstance.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to her caregivers, Julie, Stacy, and Charlene and also Crescent Hospice for their compassionate care.

As per her wishes, Mrs. Scott’s body was donated to the UofSC School of Medicine Gift of Body Program.
