Funeral Services for Jessie Russell Lain, 87, of Barnwell, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Sunday, May 16, 2021 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Jeffery Ray officiating; burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons and family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday. The service will be live-streamed on our Official Folk Funeral Home - Live Stream Facebook page for those unable to attend. Memorial contributions may be given to Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2381 Green Branch Road, Barnwell, S.C. 29812. Mr. Lain passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021.

Born in Barnwell, SC, he was a son of the late Jessie E. Lain and Lore Dyches Lain. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, worked for Chill Chest and retired from Revco in 1979. Mr. Lain was a farmer, enjoyed raising Black Angus cows, loved coon hunting and previously served in the National Guard.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years Sybile Bodiford Lain; a daughter Ruth Abigail Piatt (Keith) of Barnwell; brothers David Lee (Evelyn) Lain of Barnwell, Joseph Robert “Bob” Lain of Aiken; grandchildren Rusty Peeples of Barnwell, Brad Lain of Colorado Springs, CO, Jessica Lain (Chris) of Barnwell; great grandchildren Anna (SanTinno) Knight of Neeses, Christen Workman and Mason Workman of Barnwell, Cameron Peeples of Boca Raton, FL and one great-great grandson Lyle Knight of Neeses.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Barry Lain; a grandson Brian Lain and sisters Sybile Owens and Janell Masburn.
