Russell Howard, 72, of Williston, SC passed away on March 18, 2025. The family will receive friends from noon until five p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC. The funeral service will be held at eleven-thirty a.m., Wednesday, March 26th in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Phinizy Young officiating; burial will follow in the Young Rosemary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Barnwell County, SC, he was a son of the late Chappell Howard and Eddie Pearl Syphett Howard and was married to the late Dorothy White Howard. He attended Williston-Elko High School. He previously played lead guitar in the Gospel Group Southern Six; he played for Shirley Caesar at the Bell Auditorium. He was an auto mechanic and paint and body specialist.
Survivors include his son, Steven (Sophie) White of Williston, SC; a sister, Valentine Wagner; a step-s0n, John White; grandchildren, Syncere Masia White, Ashton Samir Smith, Shi’Darrayl Antonio Smith, Nolan Chance Turner, Nigel Carson Turner, Alexus Nikyia White (Jessie) Turner, Ashley Nicole White, Jatavia Sue Williams, Johntavia White, and Steven White, Jr.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Howard; sisters, Hattie Howard, Evelyn Howard, Terry Russell, Dorothy Linbergh and Margie Thornton.
