A Celebration of Life Service for Ruby Elizabeth Varnell Platt, 72, of Warrenville, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2024 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Tony Christie officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Att: Financial Operations, 733 Third Ave., Ste. 510, New York, NY 10017. Mrs. Ruby passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Amedisys Hospice of Aiken for their love and support shown to Ruby and her family.
Born in Conway, SC, she was a daughter of the late Louie Lee Arends Varnell and Eddie Virgil Varnell. She grew up in Cordova, SC, spent most of her life in Orangeburg County, and made Warrenville, SC her home for the last 12 years. She was of the Baptist Faith and retired as a paramedic having served for many years working with EMS. She loved being around and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved spending time fishing.
Survivors include her loving husband of 34 years, Donald Leroy Platt, Jr.; her son, Stephen (Gina) Varnell of Dallas, TX; daughters, Dawn Nix (Wayne Carroll) of Williston, SC and Robin Brunson of Norway, SC; grandchildren, Bradley Varnell, Tyler Varnell, Avery (Caitlin) Varnell, Hunter (Reagan) Varnell, Torrey (Rhett) Adams, Ivey Brunson, Trevor (Sarah) Brunson, Hayley Blume, Lance Blume, and Corey Lockwood; great grandchildren, Braylee, Ruben, Cooper, Colton, Stihl and Everly; sisters, Margie Ball of Camden, SC and Dorothy Purcell of Orangeburg, SC.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, George Brunson.
