Funeral services for Simmie Rodney Bolen, 76, of Bamberg, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Friday, December 17, 2021 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Gene Long officiating; burial will be in the Barnwell Memory Gardens on Reynolds Rd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hollins Cancer Center, 18 Bee St., Charleston, SC 29425. Rodney passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021.
Born in Orangeburg, SC, Rodney was a son of the late Simmie Bolen and Nina Lee Mitchell Bolen. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and was a graduate of Williston-Elko High School. He previously operated Hilda Builders Supply, worked in carpentry, was a member of the Old Car Club and loved his cats.
Survivors include his loving wife Fannie Hightower Bolen of the home; sons Daniel “Danny” (Paulette) Bolen of Barnwell, William Steve (Robin) Hightower of Fort Mill, SC; daughters Alexandra Bolen of IL, Bonnie Hightower Wilgus of Charleston; grandchildren Daniel (Tristan) Bolen, Tony (Celia) Bolen, Matthew Bolen, Rebecca Bolen, John (Brittany) Wilgus, Parker Wilgus, Cody Hightower, Chase Hightower and Emmy Bolen; great grandchildren Savannah, Madilyn, Aubrey, Cade, and Remy Bolen; sisters Libby Bell of Barnwell and Opal (Jimmy) Morris of Denmark; a brother W. R. “Billy” (Betty Faye) Bolen of Blackville and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved sister Martha Nell Bolen.
