Funeral services for Robert “Bob” “Bobby” Henry Carson, Sr., 97 of Williston, SC will be held at 1pm Wednesday, May 8, 2024 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with George Carroll officiating. Burial will be held in the Williston Cemetery with US Army honors accorded. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday. The family has asked that memorials be made to the Williston Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 367, Williston, SC 29853 or to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 West Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Bob passed away at the Charlie Norwood VA Hospital on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
Born in Calhoun County, SC he was a son of the late David and Kitty O’Cain Carson and was married to the late Gloria Sikes Carson. Bob was a member of Pine Grove Lutheran Church in Lone Star, SC. He worked for Dupont in Document Control until his retirement in 1989. Bob was a farmer and loved gardening; he enjoyed planting okra and selling it to the local stores. He served as a Mason and Shriner and was previously a member of the Williston American Legion and was currently a member of the Blackville American Legion. Bob was a US ARMY veteran having served during WWII and the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his children, Phyllis Carson (Johnny) Martin of Barnwell, SC, Robert Henry Carson, Jr. of Lone Star, SC, Michael Anthony Carson and fiancée Dana Lawson of Williston, SC and Mark Kenneth Carson of St. Matthews, SC; his grandchildren, Wesley (Lea) Martin, Crystal Martin (Patrick) Byrum, Brad Carson, Brett Carson, Adam (Paige) Carson; great-grandchildren, Jameson Martin, Lilly Martin, Garrett Byrum, Kelsey Byrum, Micah Byrum and expecting Asher Carson, Due May 18; a sister Rosetta Staley of North, SC and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Godwin and 2 brothers, Marvin and Gene Carson.
The family would like to give a special thank you to their sisters in Christ, Emma Brown, Niurka Donaldson, Lilly Prince, Donna Ray, Ellen Sanders and Emmy Lou Brown for the concern, love and care they provided for Mr. Carson.
