Richard Creech Obituary

Funeral services for Richard Alan Creech, 74, of Blackville, SC will be held at three o’clock p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Blackville with Dr. Thomas Terry and Reverend Ken Frederick officiating; burial will be in the Blackville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m., Wednesday at Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church of Blackville, P.O. Box 217, Blackville, SC 29817 or the Blackville Cemetery, P.O. Box 365, Blackville, SC 29817. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Rodney Rhinehart and his staff, also Joseph Lott, Herman Still, and Donnie Abbott for their compassion and all of the loving care they have shown to the family during this time. Richard passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022.

Born in Orangeburg County, SC, he was a son of the late John Melbourne Creech, Sr. and Elizabeth Hair Buckingham Creech. He was a graduate of Blackville High School; in 1967, he earned an Associate Degree from Palmer College in Columbia and where he majored in Higher Accounting. In 1976, he graduated from the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University and in 1980 he graduated from the Commercial Lending School from the University of Oklahoma. He retired from Enterprise Bank as Senior Vice-President and Director. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blackville where he served as a deacon, was a member of the Barnwell County Chamber of Commerce, Barnwell Rotary Club, the Blackville Masonic Lodge # 63, and served in the U. S. National Guard.

Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years Dorothy Darby Creech of the home; daughters Sandy Creech (Elaine) of Edisto Beach, SC, Mandy (Jeff) Harrington of Chapin; son Scott (Lindsey) Etheredge of Lexington; grandchildren Addie and Jake Harrington, Garrett (Demi) Etheredge, Ethan, Morgan and Mason Etheredge; nephews Charles Anderson “Andy” (Kim) Creech, Jr. and David Creech and a niece Miriam Combee.

He was preceded in death by brothers Charles Anderson Creech, Sr. and John Melbourne Creech, Jr.
