Richard McDonald Bennett, Jr., 69, of Barnwell, SC passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025. The family will receive friends from ten to eleven o’clock a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Mt. Arnon Baptist Church Cemetery. Graveside service will be held at eleven o’clock a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Mt. Arnon Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Deanie Hutto officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Mt. Arnon Baptist Church, 783 Parkwood Terrance, Allendale, SC 29810.
Born in Barnwell, SC, he was the son of the late Richard M. Bennett, Sr. and Dolly Mae Still Bennett and lived with his sister for many years. He was a lifelong resident of Barnwell County and Mt. Arnon Baptist Church. He was a dedicated Christian who could recall many scriptures in the Bible from memory. Richard enjoyed listening to evangelist Jack Van Impe. He also enjoyed WWE wrestling, watching westerns such as Bonanza and the Wagon Train. He loved spending time outdoors and previously worked in construction for many years. He also enjoyed spending time with his four legged companion, Lizzy.
Survivors include his sister, Tina (Lewis) Rogers of Barnwell, SC; niece, Jennifer (Thomas) Lott of Williston, SC and nephew, Jamie (Samantha) Ashby of Barnwell, SC.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased in death by a brother, Tommy Bennett.
