Reverend Eugene Hammond Carroll, 81, met his Lord and Savior on May 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Gene was born February 2, 1940 in Barnwell South Carolina to Willie and Corrine Carroll. He accepted Jesus as his savior at the age of 13 and called into ministry at 21. Gene attended Palmer Junior College, Illinois Christian College and Southern Seminary receiving his Pastoral Certificate and Bachelor of Divinity degree. Gene pastored churches in SC, NC, GA and TN until health issues made early retirement necessary. Retirement and health issues didn’t deter Gene’s calling and he entered interim service, evangelism and started Impact Humor, a Christian Humor platform where he used childhood experiences, jokes and humor to entertain while sharing the gospel of Christ.
Gene is preceded in death by his son Allen Carroll; grandson Justin May; brothers Robert and Kenneth Carroll, sister-in-law Georgia Lou Carroll; brother and sister-in-law Legree and Martha Davis.
Gene is survived by his devoted wife Helen Rowell Carroll of 63 years, daughter Gail (David) Graves, son Dave (Diana) Carroll, daughter Renea (Derek) Porter; grandchildren Matthew Carroll, Shelby May, Alison and Lauren Graves, Madison Porter and Amanda Theodour and great granddaughter Emma Theodour; a brother John Samuel “J.S.” Carroll; sisters Shirley (Lester) Fail, Linda (Hubert) Pickering, Daisy (Tommy) Prickett, and Joann (Frankie) Hair; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
