Raymond Andre Thomas 86, of Elko, SC passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Pruitt Health in Aiken, SC after an extended illness.
The family has asked that memorials be made to The Shriners Children Hospital, 950 West Farris Rd. Greenville, SC 29605
Born in Greensboro, NC he was a son of the late Raymond Luther Thomas and Ruth Delane Yates Thomas and was married to Kathleen Phillips Thomas for 40 years. Ray was US AirForce Veteran and received a Honorable Medical Discharge after serving during the Vietnam War era. He was a HAM radio enthusiast and operator for many years known as WA4OMM. He loved flying and was a instructor pilot for 30 years. He was also a pilot for Ness Motley Law Firm and was also the GM for Johns Island Airport for several years. Ray was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association and was a mason at the Barnwell Harmony Lodge 17 and was also a Shriner.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kathleen Thomas of the home; a son, Stefan (Angela) Thomas of Henderson, NV; step-sons, Gene D. McGrew of Albuquerque , NM and Johnny McGrew of Columbia, SC; his grandchildren, Timothy Thomas, Kara Motes, Sarah (Matt) Austin, Caroline Thomas, Kayla Lyles, Clifton Lyles and Rebecca Thomas; a great-granddaughter, Sadie Thomas; a sister, Joanne Peddycord od Germanton, NC; a brother, Russell Yates (Yuwadee) Thomas of Kernersville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
