Raymond Lee Taylor Jr., 65, years old of Bamberg passed away on February 20, 2025.
Raymond was born May 16th, 1959 in Vicenza, Italy. He was a 1978 graduate of Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School. After finishing high school, he went on to graduate from O.C Tech with a degree in Industrial Electronics. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became a proud member of the U.S. Military and joined the U.S. Navy. Raymond served as a leader of the Royal Ambassadors at Denmark First Baptist Church for several years where he used his enthusiastic passion for sharing the love of God with maturing and growing young boys. Raymond was a current member of Open Door Baptist Church where he was a servant of Jesus in many ways there as well. Raymond was employed by Pheonix Specialty and Mayer Industries during his working career. In 2021, he retired from Mayer Industries in Orangeburg after being a faithful employee for over 20 years. After retirement, Raymond developed a deeper love and appreciation for the Edisto River, where he has spent many days sitting on the banks, sandbars, and riding his boat. He was an avid fan of the Clemson Tigers who you rarely caught without wearing some orange article of clothing or sitting in front of a TV on Saturdays in the fall. He was a faithful BE Alumni who listened to every football game on Friday nights. He loved his family and his friends fiercely and showed up at every sporting event, function, or activity he could. Most importantly, Raymond was a vocal and uplifting follower of Jesus Christ who never missed an opportunity to show what God had done and was doing in his life.
He is survived by his siblings, Ronnie (Joy) Taylor, JoAnn (Jeff) Givens, and Jacquelyn “Jackie” (John) Cook; nieces and nephews, Brittany (Marty) Stroman, Hilary (Shane) Hindman, Bretta (Camden) Kittrell, Keith (Jenny) Taylor, Brent (Cassie) Cook, Kelly Taylor; great nieces and nephews, Camden Kittrell Jr, Lainey Kittrell, Cole Kittrell, Evie Hindman, Mary Kate Hindman, Olivia Hindman, Charlie Hindman, Tate Cook; cousins, Kimberly (Randy) Compton and Robin Babb, and Stephen (Caroline) Gunnells.
He was predeceased by his mother, Lucille Elizabeth Scoggins; his father, Raymond Lee Taylor Sr.; step-father, John T. Scoggins; aunt and uncles, Barbara (Harry) Gunnells & Billy New.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025 at Open Door Baptist Church, 6933 Main Hwy., Bamberg, SC with the Reverend Doug Ludlam and Reverend Andy Hunter officiating.
