Penny L. Smith Bolen, 81, of Blackville, SC passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at two o’clock pm, Friday, March 6, 2026 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with Danny Dukes officiating; burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
Born in Fremont, NE, she was a daughter of the late Norman Lawrence Smith and Mable Elizabeth Webster. Penny was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and previously worked at Dodgeville Sewing Room, was a Security Escort for Savannah River Site and was a homemaker. She graduated from High School in Riverside, CA.
Survivors include her husband of the home, Milledge Bates Bolen, Sr.; her daughter, Lorie L. (Jennifer) Bolen of Blackville, SC; her sons, Milledge Bates Bolen, Jr. of Mt. Beulah Community, SC and Tommy J. Bolen, Sr. (Kay Givens) of Blackville, SC; grandchildren, Ciji (Ryan) Bolen Bell, Kelsie Bolen (Carl), Duffie (Shovone) Bolen and Cody R. Bolen; great grandchildren, Samuel, Kierston, Kinsley, Colton, Caroline Grace, Bates, Alena, Gage, and Levi; a sister, Connie McAdams of California; a brother, Lawrence “Larry” Smith of California and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Bohn; a brother, Gary Smith and a granddaughter, Melissa Bolen.
