A Family Graveside Service for Peggy Elaine Grubbs Ussery, 82, of Blackville, SC will be held at eleven a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Blackville Cemetery. Due to the current pandemic and the CDC regulations, social distancing and other guidelines will be in place. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 28648, Double Pond Baptist Church, 357 Double Pond Road, Blackville, SC 29817 or to a charity of your choice. Peggy passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020.
Born in Barnwell County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Algie Morgan Grubbs and Arline Sandifer Grubbs and was married to Denton Slaughter Ussery, Sr. Peggy was an administrative and human resource secretary and having worked in the textile industry for a number of years. She enjoyed baking cakes, and cooking for a large crowd of friends and family.
Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Denton Ussery, Sr. of the home; her daughter Mitzi (Mickey) Weeks of Cameron, SC; her son Dent (Reneé) Ussery, Jr. of Columbia; her grandchildren Michael (Neilly) Weeks, Matthew (Elizabeth Allen) Weeks, Annabelle Ussery, Camille Ussery, and Lillah Ussery; great grandchildren Croft Weeks and Mills Weeks; a sister Betsy Grainger; her brothers Melfi Grubbs and Earl Grubbs and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Sandra Smith and a brother Jackie Elbert Grubbs.
