Patty Craig Obituary

Patricia “Patty” Lott Craig, 90, of Williston, SC passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2024. Funeral services will be held at three o'clock p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverend Jimmy Hanf officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be given in Mrs. Patty’s memory to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 304, Elko, SC 29846 or Agua Es Vida, P.O. Box 185, Elgin, SC 29045.

Patty was a lifelong resident of Williston, SC, and eventually Elko, SC. She was a daughter of the late Matthew Lott and Olive Porter Lott. She attended and graduated from Williston-Elko High School where she loved being part of the basketball team. After graduation, she attended Furman University. She met her future husband, Ted Craig in the seventh grade in Williston. They were married for 64 years and lived in Elko where Ted farmed for many years. Patty was a secretary for Bill Knotts Realty Company in Williston and later was employed by Bud Berman in Williston and lastly Savannah River Site. She was at SRS when it all started, in Construction and then in Operations. She retired from the Savannah River Site in the Clerical Department. Ted and Patty owned and operated Craig’s Barbecue in Williston for several years which closed in 1988.

She was a devoted member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Blackville, SC and was a member of the Median Adult Sunday School Class. She enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. She was also an avid Clemson fan.  

Patty was a caring mother of five sons, each of whom she loved with all her heart. Ted and her sons were her reason for living. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Patty will be sorely missed by family and friends.

She is survived by four sons, David Thomas (Janet) Craig of Elko, John Michael (September) Craig of Aiken, Ted Patrick (Connie) Craig of Elko and Mickey Wallis (Tina) Craig of Elko; daughter-in-law, Tina Craig of Elko; grandchildren, David Thomas (Shannon) Craig, Jr., Victoria Elizabeth (Zac) Drafts, John Michael Craig, Jr., Alan (Shelby) Childress Craig, Caleb Bradley Craig, Joshua Cade Craig and GeorgiaAnne Craig; great grandchildren, Emma Grace and Nolan Thomas Craig, Aiden, Adalynn and Anneliese Drafts; sisters, June (Don) Bolton and Jo (Larry) Fail and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ted Wallis Craig; a loving son, Christopher Kelly Craig; a grandson, Edgar Allan Brown Craig and her sisters, Betty (James) Kitchings and Mary (Winchester) Smith.
