Murray Douglas

Funeral services for Murray Carlos Douglas, 83, of the Morgantown Community, Springfield, SC will be held at one o’clock p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Timmy Barr officiating; burial will follow in the Morgan Family Cemetery, Springfield, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be given in memory of Mr. Douglas to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. He passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. 

Born at home in Morgantown Community, Springfield, SC, he was a son of the late Carlos Lee Douglas and Florrie Porter Douglas and was married to the late Linda Diane Carroll Douglas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Springfield and previously worked in road construction for J. F. Cleckley & Company where he enjoyed operating heavy equipment. He loved watching NASCAR and always planted a garden which he enjoyed tending and was generous in sharing the vegetables with his family and friends. 

Survivors include his daughter, Susan Douglas Lloyd of Swansea, SC; a son, William Murray Douglas of West Columbia, SC; a sister, Lena (Terry) Kittrell of Morgantown Community; a niece, Marian (Dennis) McLemore; two nephews, Jared (Rebecca) Kittrell and Jeremy (Kristi) Kittrell; and multiple great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Marie (Deer) Brant and a brother, Laurie Victor “Nick” Douglas.
