Michael Cooper Hughes, 70, of Orangeburg, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at his home.
Born on September 27, 1955, in Bamberg County, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Rolfe Albert Hughes and Jacqueline Cooper Hughes and was married to the late Kathy Hughes. Michael was a dedicated electrician who worked in construction for many years.
Michael enjoyed riding his motorcycle and especially loved spending time fishing. He treasured the simple joys of life.
Survivors include his brother, Charles “Candy” Hughes of Blackville, South Carolina; half-sister, Jerry Miller of Hudson, North Carolina; and a host of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
A service to celebrate Michael’s life will be announced by the family at a later date.
