A Graveside Funeral Service for Melvin C. Pennington, 86, of Windsor, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Brad Willis officiating. The family will receive friends after the service on Sunday at the cemetery. Due to the current pandemic and the CDC regulations, social distancing and other guidelines will be in place; facemasks are required. The service will be live-streamed on our Official Folk Funeral Home - Live Stream Facebook page for those unable to attend. Melvin passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021.
Born in Aiken County, SC, he was a son of the late Richard Anderson Pennington and Estelle Wall Pennington. In 1953, he was in the last graduating class at Windsor High School and was a member of Kedron Baptist Church. Melvin worked at E. I. DuPont and was a self-employed farmer who loved John Deere tractors and was a plumber. He loved to fish in the Edisto River and coon hunt. Melvin had a passion for growing tomatoes and was an avid Clemson Tiger fan. He was a U. S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years Frances Mizell Pennington; his daughters Vicky (Allen) Thompson of Windsor and Lisa (Mark) Patterson of Augusta, GA; grandchildren Christopher Thompson and Jessica (James) Priest; great grandchildren Remington Priest and Cecily Priest; his adopted daughter and granddaughter Dianne and Grace Elizabeth Music; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Mildred Huffman, June Newsome, and Vivian Bradberry; his brothers James Rudolph Pennington and Roy Pennington.
