Maxine Williams Obituary

Maxine Hutto Williams, 78, of Springfield, SC passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Funeral services will be held at two o’clock p.m., on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Nathan Davis officiating; burial will follow in the Springfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six to eight o’clock p.m., on Tuesday, December 16th at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be given in Mrs. Maxine’s memory to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 150 Hi Cotton Lane, Springfield, SC 29146.

Born in Orangeburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Evangeline Hutto and was raised by her grandparents, Clara and Arthur Hutto. She was the widow of Bobby Cohens Williams and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she was very active and involved when her health permitted. She was well-known in Springfield as the “Peanut Lady”. She helped organize the Frog Jump for several years and loved touring around town on her golf cart. She enjoyed Clemson Football, Braves Baseball, sweet treats, and ice cream. She had many friends in the Neeses and Springfield area and will be missed by all who knew her. She was a loving Granny Mac and a wonderful Nanny.

Survivors include her children, Angela Renae (Tony) Bowman and Kenny Hutto all of Springfield; step-children, Roger Williams of Barnwell, SC, Ernest Ray (Susan) Williams of Blackville, SC, Penny (Kenneth) Lawing of Spartanburg, SC, and Joyce Langen of MO; her grandchildren, Lacey Bowman Whetstone, Ken Hutto, Deanna Hutto, Cassie (Cole) Doolittle, James Cohen Williams, Michelle (Joey) Black, Dalton Lawing, Jade Lawing (Mikey) Eaves, Tabatha Martin and D.J.; her great grandchildren, Kaden, Rhett, Bo, Evan, Zylar, Aubrey, Emma, Landon, Jenson, Leighton, Landen, Jaxtyn and Kennli Paige; sisters-in-law, Betsy Brown and Janice Garner; brothers-in-law, Floyd (Patsy) Williams and Ray (Deidre) Williams along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Cecil “Jim” Brown and Ronald Brown.
