Graveside Funeral service for Mary Jane Jowers, 82, of Williston, SC will be held two-thirty p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the Williston Cemetery with Reverend Jimmy Hanf and Dr. Beth Yarborough officiating. The family will receive friends six to eight p.m., Friday, July 31st at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Memorials may be given to the Williston Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 367, Williston, SC 29853. The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to Margie Bellinger, St. Joseph Hospice, Vanessa Bryant and Karin Thompson for all of the outstanding care, love and concern they have shown to our mother. Mary Jane passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020.
Born July 16, 1938 in Chester, SC, she was the only child of Joe Curry Bankhead and Martha Roach Bankhead. She graduated from Chester High School class of 1956 and received her RN degree from S.C. Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She married the love of her life, Robert Lee Jowers, after graduation and worked at Barnwell County, Hospital, private duty and was office nurse for Dr. A. D. Gantt. She also assisted her husband with his farming, raising cows, calves, and quail, etc. She kept all of her grandchildren while their parents worked; she really loved each of them unconditionally. She was an avid Clemson Football Fan. Mary Jane was a member of the S. C. Baptist Hospital Alumni, a long-time member of Williston First Baptist Church and Edisto Baptist Church. She enjoyed caring for her family and traveling with friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Martha and Joe Bankhead and in 2014 her beloved husband of 54 years, Robert.
Survivors include her two daughters Lynne (James) Lyons of Branchville, SC and Leigh (Chris) Burt of Williston, SC; six grandchildren who affectionately called her Mimi, John Robert (Staci) Ingram, Lindsey Ingram, Rachel (Charles) Peek, Justin Burt, Caroline Burt, Orry Burt; four great grandchildren Christian James Ingram, Madilynne Jane Ingram, Lawson Victor Peek, and Raelynn Mae Hiers; a very special nephew Ronnie (Kay) Jowers of Atlanta, GA; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Due to the current pandemic and the CDC regulations, social distancing and other guidelines will be in place. The service will be live-streamed on our Official Folk Funeral Home - Live Stream Facebook page for those unable to attend.
