Marvin Williams, Sr.

James Marvin Williams, Sr., 81, of Aiken, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Shaws Fork Baptist Church with the Reverend Bill Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Scott Family Cemetery, Langdon Road, Aiken, South Carolina. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Hunter Williams, Fischer Williams, C. J. English, Nick English, Wesley English, Jason Davis and Chris Vaughn.

Born in Neeses, South Carolina, Marvin was the son of the late James F. Williams and Vera Rutland Williams. He was the devoted husband of Faye Mellard Williams, with whom he shared over 30 loving years of marriage.

A faithful member of Millbrook Baptist Church, Marvin was well known and respected throughout the agricultural community. He began his career working for Ray and Ellie Weeks at Weeks Farm and Garden before assuming ownership of the business. For more than 45 years, he owned and operated the store, building lasting relationships with customers and friends alike. His extensive knowledge of farming and agricultural products, combined with his genuine care for others, contributed greatly to the success of the business and earned him the admiration of countless people throughout the region.

Marvin never met a stranger and treasured the friendships he formed over the years. He enjoyed spending time with customers, sharing stories, and helping others with his wealth of knowledge and experience. His warm personality, integrity, and dedication to his community left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Outside of work, Marvin found great joy in playing bluegrass music on his mandolin and banjo. He also loved fishing the Edisto and Combahee River with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Faye Williams; his son, Jim Williams (Carla) of Aiken; his four grandchildren, Hunter Williams, Fischer Williams, Sullivan Williams, and Chandler Bridges; great grandson, Colton and special nieces, Kaylla and Maddison.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his brothers, Don Williams and Terry Williams.

Marvin’s passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. It has often been said that when an elderly person dies, it is like a library burning down, and those words ring especially true for Marvin. He carried a lifetime of knowledge, wisdom, and experience in agriculture, business, and life itself. He was always willing to share what he knew, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical advice to anyone who asked. Though his voice is now silent, the lessons he taught, the friendships he nurtured, and the legacy he built will continue to live on in the lives of those he touched.
