Marvena Nix Moody, age 78, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, following an extended period of declining health.
She was born to the late Herbert Gregory Nix and Runette Joyner Nix. Marvena was happily married for 27 years to the late Jerry Dane Moody. Prior to her retirement in 2022, she was employed as a medical office assistant with the Visiting Nurses of Greater Bamberg, where she served with dedication and compassion. Ms. Moody faithfully attended Open Door Baptist Church and was lovingly known to all who cherished her as "Mimi." Her greatest joy in life was her family, whom she loved deeply.
She is survived by her son, Clinton Dane (Jessica) Moody of Bamberg, S.C.; two beloved grandchildren, Marin F. Moody and Brady D. Moody: and several adored nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Linda Nix Laird and Judy Nix Lyons, and her brothers, Lonnie Nix, Gene Nix, and Ralph Nix.
The Family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Folk Funeral Home, Denmark, SC. Funeral Services will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at Open Door Baptist Church, 6933 Main Hwy, Bamberg, SC 29003 with the Reverends Doug Ludlam and Dean Deer officiating. Burial will follow in the Bamberg County Memory Gardens.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be members of her loving family, Brady Moody, Austin Furtick, Shane Laird, Chris Jones, Donnie Laird and Gerald Proveaux.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Open Door Baptist Church, P.O. Box 952, Bamberg, SC 29003.
