The funeral services for a long-time resident of Barnwell County, Martin Bellinger Renew, 92, of Yelm, WA formerly of the Long Branch Community will be held at Two o’clock p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston with his son the Reverend Philip Renew officiating; burial will follow in the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Martin passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Born in Williston, SC, 10 Aug 1932, he was the son of the late Martin Bellinger Renew Sr. and Eloise Greene. He was the Pastor of New Testament Baptist Church and attended True Faith Baptist Church when in South Carolina and Heritage Baptist Church when in Washington. As a Pastor, His greatest advice to other preachers was " Just Preach Jesus! ". He lived in the Long Branch Community of Barnwell County for many, many years until recently Martin was staying with their son and his family in Washington State. Martin enjoyed traveling, being on the road, and spending time with his family. Martin spent 2 years in the Barnwell Army National Guard and 4 years in the United States Navy. He left the Navy as a Seaman Boatswain Mate Stryker.
Survivors include his sons Louie (Jody) Renew of Yelm, WA, Daniel (Sherry) Renew of Toccoa, GA, Stephen (Terry) Renew of Wartburg, TN and Philip (Elizabeth) Renew of Barnwell, SC; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June Marlene Renew and a son Martin Bellinger Renew, Jr.
