Marilyn Margaret Etheredge was born on June 24th, 1944 in Alexandria VA to Bryan Emerson and Margaret Terry Hughes. At the age of two, Marilyn was adopted by Austin and Elouise Beach of Walterboro, SC. They were loving parents who absolutely adored having Marilyn as their daughter. And she adored them.
Marilyn married Allen Theodore Etheredge Jr on March 9th, 1962 and were married for 52 years before his death on March 27th, 2014.
Just two weeks after their marriage, Allen joined the US Air Force and left for Homestead, FL. Allen and Marilyn came back to SC in 1966 with two little girls, Sandra Kaye and Pamela Susan. They soon found a home in Dentsville, SC and settled in as a young family and also became members of Rehoboth United Methodist Church where Marilyn was a member of the Virginia Wingard Ministry and often volunteered for Sunday School. Allen was the music director and pianist for Rehoboth Church services for many years.
While Allen attained a Masters in Physics at the University of SC and worked at Southern Bell many years; Marilyn was a Mother and Homemaker. After their daughters were grown and having families of their own, Allen and Marilyn were transferred to NJ and AL until his retirement. They then moved back to Aiken, SC in 1996 to be close to the family again.
Marilyn enjoyed reading Biographies, Poetry and studying her Bible. She had an odd sense of humor making faces just out of the blue and was playful and silly with daddy and us girls. One of her greatest joys was listening to music (sometimes blasting) playing anything from Andre Bocelli, Rod Stuart to James Brown. She would be dancing and singing. That continued even after we were grown and with grandchildren of our own.
Marilyn has two daughters, Kaye Miles (Todd) of West Jefferson, NC and Pamela Austin of Lugoff, SC. She has 4 grandchildren, Phillip Miles of Clarkes Hill, SC, Lauren Colvin (Scott) of Lugoff, SC, Melissa Frierson and Felicia Frierson of Columbia, SC. She has 8 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
