Marie (Still) Buist

Graveside funeral service for Marie Still Buist, 103, of Huntsville, AL formerly of Blackville, SC will be held at eleven o’clock a.m., Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the Blackville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Blackville Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 365, Blackville, SC 29817. Mrs. Marie passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

Born in Blackville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Henry David Still, Jr. and Margaret Hair Still and was married to the late Charles Arthur Buist, Jr. She was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was in the Rebecca Circle of the WMU. She was also involved with her neighborhood group the Westbury Homemakers. Mrs. Marie previously taught English and was a homemaker for many years. She delivered Meals on Wheels for 40 years, was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the DuMidi Women’s Service Organization.

Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Buist Brooks of Huntsville, AL; a son, Dr. Charles Roy Buist of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Bunny Marie Brooks, Lloyd Michael (Michelle) Brooks, II and Charles Roy Buist, Jr.; great grandchildren, Charlie Buist, William Buist, Mattie Grace Brooks, Ashleigh Hopkins, Austin Hopkins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Nelle Buist; her sisters, Martha Still Ballentine, Marian Still, Eugenia Still and Lorena Still; brothers, Henry Still, Pinckney Still, Joe Still and Jimmy Still and a son-in-law, Lloyd Brooks.
