Mack Whittle Obituary

Mack Blane Whittle, the husband of Robin Tisdale Whittle of Wagener, SC, entered eternal rest on April 12th, 2023.

Born in Healing Springs, SC, on July 20th, 1935, Mack was the son of the late Mark Briggs and Myrtle Cain Whittle. In addition to his parents, Mack was predeceased by his brother, Robert (Bobby) Whittle, and sisters, Delano Williams and Dorothy Garvin.

In 1952, Mack enlisted in the Army National Guard, proudly serving his country. In 1956, he began working at the SC Highway Department in Columbia. Mack moved his family to Walterboro, SC, in 1967, where he started a long-term care career. He became a licensed contractor and a licensed nursing home administrator. Mack eventually co-owned and operated several South Carolina facilities before retirement in 1997.

Mack was proud to be a Gideon; he loved reaching people with the good news of Jesus through personal witnessing and the distribution of God’s word.

Mack had a passion for the outdoors after retirement. He loved hunting, riding his tractor, and checking on his animals. He always had a project going; he could be counted on to have just about any tool or implement one might need, and an opinion on how best to use it. Mack loved God and his family, to whom he took every opportunity to share his knowledge and impart wisdom.   Mack believed in hard work, living within one’s means, and treating others with dignity and respect. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, Robin, of 24 years; survivors include his sister, Sara Jane Whittle of Summerton, SC; his father-in-law, Donald (Sam) Tisdale, Wagener, SC; his children, Melanie (Wally) Anderson, Mack “Blane” Whittle Jr., Donald (Elisa) Rish, Bailey Whittle, Hailey Whittle (Mason) of South Carolina, Mack Blane Whittle, III (Krystal), Cody (Shannon) Rish, and Crystal Rish of Florida; grandchildren, Whitney Stroud, Bill (Kayla) Smith, Sarah (Jeremy) Chavis, Walt (Katie) Anderson, Brianna (Bobby) Chavis, Brenna Kirkland, Destani Whaley, Shyanne Rish, Mason, and Madison Whittle; great grandchildren, Caroline Stroud, Gracen Smith, Jackson, Ella, and Jameson Chavis; many nieces, nephews, brothers, and, sisters-in-law, all who loved Mack dearly.
