Funeral services for Lynn Edward Gibson, Sr., 84, of Blackville, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2022 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston with the Reverends Dr. Thomas Terry and Ken Frederick officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church of Blackville, P.O. Box 217, Blackville, SC 29817. Mr. Gibson passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022.
Born in Orangeburg County, SC on August 10, 1937, he was a son of the late Ezbert Jefferson Gibson Sr., and Estelle Irene Smoak Gibson; He was preceded in death by his fifteen brothers and sisters and was the “baby” of sixteen children. He entered into the U. S. Army in 1958 and after training transferred to the South Carolina National Guard in which he retired in 1997. He also had 34 years of service as a U. S. Postal carrier in Denmark, SC and was a Member of the Denmark Masonic Lodge #246 for over 50 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blackville where he served in the choir and as a deacon. He believed in service to country, community, common good and Christ Jesus.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years Norma Hutto Gibson of Blackville; a son and daughter –in-law Lynn Edward and Shirley Gibson Jr.; a granddaughter Natalie Lynn Gibson all of Aiken and many beloved nieces and nephews
