Louise “Weesie” Gaston Thomason passed away on October 26, 2025 at her home in Barnwell, SC. She was 59 years old. Weesie was born on February 19, 1966 in Rock Hill, SC to Peace and William “Newt” Gaston. When Weesie was four, the family moved to Denmark, South Carolina where she enjoyed tennis, basketball, and time spent with her dear friend Carla Oliver. Weesie also loved frequent trips to Edisto beach with her mother where they sailed, canoed, and collected seashells, shark teeth, and fossils. She shared this love with her family, and they made frequent visits to the beach in all seasons. Throughout her life, she loved spending time with her extended family for reunions and beach trips. Weesie enjoyed her college years at Clemson University where she earned a degree in Psychology. While at Clemson, she made lifelong friends through her sorority Kappa Delta. Her Clemson friends became like family, and they celebrated at reunions every year. Weesie was a member of Barnwell First Baptist church where she loved serving and singing in the choir. Weesie also loved gardening, thrifting, crafting, and hiking.
Weesie survived pancreatic cancer for seven years and during that time she continued to be a light in the life of all who knew her. She always made sure to tell people her hope and strength came from the Lord. We know that today she is healed and rejoicing in heaven with her Savior. She will be remembered for her fun and friendly personality, love of nature, artistic ability, and determined spirit.
Surviving is Weesie’s devoted husband and love of her life Christopher “Chris” Thomason. Their 29 years of marriage were full of love and many cherished dogs and cats. Chris and Weesie have two daughters, Lexi (Nick) Toole and Crissa Thomason, who will carry the love, memories, lessons, and looks of their Momma into the future. Weesie is also survived by her brother Billy (Marsha) Gaston and father Newt Gaston.
Weesie is predeceased by her mother Peace Gaston.
