Graveside services for Lloyd Chavis, Sr., 60, of Blackville, SC will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2024 at the Blackville Cemetery with the Reverend Russ Reed officiating. Lloyd passed away at home on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
Born in Barnwell County he was a son of the late Vastine Chavis and Desalee Mizzell Chavis and was married to Deborah Sue Chavis for 40 years. Lloyd spent most of his life logging, running the cutter, skidder and most everything else until he became disabled. He was a quiet simple man who had a love for the outdoors.
Survivors include his loving wife Deborah Chavis of the home; his children, Crystal Chavis (Jack Peeples) of Williston, Laura (Carl) Thompson of Columbia, Lloyd (Jasmine) Chavis of Beaufort and Melanie (Nicholas) Mosier of Blackville; grandchildren, Johnny, Athena, Jorden and Aubree, Trinity and Kason, Laya, Wyatt and Amelia Ryn; a great-grandson, Colton; a sister, Mary Hutto; three brothers, Bobby (Paula) Chavis, Randy Chavis and LeRoy Chavis and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Lee Dyches; brothers, Clyde Chavis and Abraham Chavis and a dear aunt, Emma Glover.
