Linda (Nix) Laird

Funeral services for Carrie Linda Nix Laird, 77, of Bamberg, SC will be held at twelve o’clock noon on Friday, December 22, 2023 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Shawn Hanks officiating; burial will follow in the Barnwell County Memory Gardens on Reynolds Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Memorials may be sent St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honors Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105. Linda passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

Born in Bamberg County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Gregory Nix and Runette Joyner Nix and was married to Donald “Donnie” Laird. She was a graduate of Bamberg High School and was a member of the Colston Branch Baptist Church where she loved her church family. She previously worked as the Medical Office Assistant for the Visiting Nurses of Greater Bamberg where she worked for 32 years. Linda enjoyed camping and especially going to the mountains. Her greatest joy was her family; she loved cooking for them and spending time with her loved ones.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Donnie Laird; a daughter, Crystal Laird Russell of Bamberg, SC; a son, Donald Shane Laird of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Dakota Russell and Justin William Martin; a sister, Marvena Nix Moody of Bamberg, SC; sisters-in-law, Dot Bolen Dukes, Marie L. Wade, Lillie Laird, Etta Laird, and Carolyn Laird; brothers-in-law, Charles Laird, Delano Laird and Robert Wade.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Nix Lyons; her brothers, Lonnie Nix, Gene Nix, and Ralph Nix; brothers-in-law, Laurie Laird, Frankie Laird and Harry Laird.
