Lillie Bell Brooks-Hobbs Obituary

Another link in the chain is broken for death has taken our loved one. Death has given our beloved the golden key that opens the palace to eternity.

Lillie Bell Stanley Brooks Hobbs the daughter of the late Deacon William Henry Stanley and Deaconess Lillie Mae Stanley, was born on July 21, 1944 in Denmark, South Carolina. She departed life on May 01, 2020 at Cobble Hills Nursing Facility in Brooklyn, New York.

At an early age Lillie Bell joined Rome Baptist Church. Lillie Bell attended Voorhees High School in Denmark, South Carolina.

Lillie Bell was married to Louis Brooks; they were blessed with four children. She moved to New York and joined the ML Special Choir, traveling all over and singing God’s Praise. Lillie Bell was a member of the Eastern Star Deborah Charter# 32 New York. She joined Revelation Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn and Vision Church of God in Christ in Queen. Then later joined Deliverance Mount Olive Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn.

In 1973 Lillie Bell met Roy Hobbs they were united in marriage on November 9, 1987.

Lillie Bell leaves to cherish in her memories- Her children: Darrow Brooks, Denmark, SC; William Brooks, East Orange, NJ, Ina Mae Brooks, Bronx, N.Y. Eric Brooks (Rowena) Queens, N.Y. and stepson Devon Haynes, Bronx, N.Y. Four brothers: Horace Stanley, Columbia, SC, St. Clair (Deloris) Stanley Sr, Denmark, SC, Timothy (Gloria) Stanley, Denmark, SC and Alphonso (Brenda) Bursey, Chicago, Il, One sister Aza Lee Hiss, Denmark, SC., Grandchildren: Sharell Brooks, Jamar (Kim) Brooks, Latoya Williams, Heaven Morse, Tyrique Brooks, Eric Brooks, Jr., Arnadell Brooks and Dominque Butler: 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Lillie Bell was preceded in death by her husband Roy Hobbs, grandson Lamar Brooks and her siblings William Henry Stanley, Jr, James Stanley, Hattie Louise Guess, Ida Mae Mainer and Eartha Lee Parlor.

The family will receive friends at 93 Baruch St., Denmark, SC from five to seven p.m., Friday, May 15, 2020.

Services will be held at 10 o'clock a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the Community Denmark Cemetery.  Due to the current pandemic and the CDC regulations, social distancing and other guidelines will be in place.
