Funeral services for Betty Jewel “Judy” Hardy Collins McAlhany, 96, of Williston, SC will be held at ten o’clock a.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the Williston Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Doug Blaikie and Dr. Beth Yarborough officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.   Graveside service will be held at three p.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2024 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 1183 Coffee Rd., Walhalla, SC. Memorial contributions may be given to Williston Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 391, Williston, SC 29853.  Mrs. Judy passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

The family would like to send a very special thank you to Nuclear Care Partners and Gentiva Hospice for all of the love, care, and compassion shown to Mrs. Judy.

Born in Westminster, SC on October 31, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Henry W. Hardy and Annie Turner Hardy. She was affectionately known as Judy; she had a passion for cooking which she inherited from her wonderfully talented mother, Mrs. Annie T. Hardy. She graduated from Westminster High School (Yellow Jackets) having completed eleven grades. She began her secretarial career with the Letourneau Company, Toccoa, GA, Oconee Mills, Westminster, SC and concluding her career with 34 years of service at the Savannah River Plant, E.I. DuPont, Aiken, SC. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Robert A. Thompson # 1504 Chapter. She served as the National Chaplain of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Judy was a member of the Williston Presbyterian Church and had a love for missions and being a part of her savior’s church. She loved singing old time gospel hymns and making a joyful noise; a melody was always ringing in her heart.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Pam Collins of Westminster, SC; her grandson and caregiver, Jeremy Collins of Williston, SC; grandsons, Carl (Yvonne) Collins of Bowersville, GA and Jeff (Gina) Collins of Easley, SC; step-sons, Joseph (Jan) McAlhany, M.D. of Charleston, SC and John (Norma) McAlhany of Greenwood, SC; a multitude of grands and great grands; a special nephew, Bob Cothran and several other nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Horace Collins and father to their only son, Randy Collins; her second husband, Dr. Carlisle McAlhany; sister, Mary H. (Freddie) Cothran and a brother, Robert (Robbie) Hardy.
