Juanita Bennett Obituary

Juanita Jones Bennett was born on August 20, 1926 in Fort McPherson, Georgia. She was a daughter of the late James Clayton and Carrie Kimbrell Jones. Following the death of her father she moved to Orangeburg with her mother and siblings. Juanita graduated from the Orangeburg Hospital School of Nursing and worked at the Orangeburg Regional Hospital from 1948 to 1952. It was while she was working at the Orangeburg Regional Hospital that she met the love of her life, the late W.E. Bennett, Jr. Her house was filled with beauty, mostly handmade by her. You could not find a more talented person. Juanita’s yard was a thing of beauty and the thing of which she was most proud. Juanita loved her church, the Springfield United Methodist Church, which she was faithful in attending. Mrs. Bennett passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

In addition to her parents and her Husband, Juanita was predeceased by her sister, Jimmie Jones Eagar of Orangeburg; her brother, John Knox “Jack” Jones of Orangeburg; nephews, Stevens Cogburn “Coggie” Eagar, Jr. of Gulfport, LA and Lennox Murray Bennett, Jr. of Springfield.

Juanita is survived by her nieces, Diane Eagar Metts of Newberry, Catherine Eagar of Neeses, Carrie Jones Fields and Libby Jones Mizzell both of Orangeburg, Mildred Bennett “Millie” Graham of Columbia, Margaret Bennett “Peg” Stover of Columbia, Emily Bennett Salley of Springfield and Jane Bennett Boynton of Salt Lake City, UT; her nephews James Clayton Eagar of Neeses, John Jones of Butte La Rose, LA and Paul Jones of Orangeburg; a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers, Daisy Abney, Sandra Jenkins, Renae Brooks, Lasha Dowling, Lorraine James and Pam Lybrand Cooper who took such good care of Juanita and the staff of Grove Park Hospice for their support and care.  Also, the family would like to extend a thank you to Charles Lawton who was a friend to Juanita and who helped her keep her beautiful yard.
