Joye (Long) Newsome

Funeral services for Margaret Joye Long Newsome, 63, of Barnwell, SC will be held at three o’clock p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2020 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Dr. Kenneth Catoe and Reverend Gene Long officiating; burial will follow in the Double Pond Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be sent to Double Pond Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 357 Double Pond Rd., Blackville, SC 29817.   Joye passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020.

Born in Bamberg County, she was the daughter of the late James Elwyn Long and Mildred Vernice Still Long. She was a member of Hagood Avenue Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband Ronald Larry Newsome, Sr. of the home; daughters April Clarice Newsome of Cayce, Jennifer Fogle Gilbert of Gaston, Kelly Brailsford of Hilda; sons Ronald Larry Newsome, Jr. of Barnwell, Keith Loren Newsome of CA; a grandson John Thor Newsome; granddaughters Gabrielle Gilbert, Robin Gilbert, and Emily Burke; a great granddaughter Arealynn Levy Ward and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth H. Long.
