Funeral services for Joshua Andrew Self, 25, of Columbia, SC formerly of Denmark, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Denmark with the Reverend Andy Hunter officiating. Graveside services will follow at four o’clock p.m., Saturday, November 18th at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Orangeburg, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church of Denmark, P.O. Box 325, Denmark, SC 29042. Josh passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

Born in Florence, SC, he was a son of Billy “Bill” Whelchel Self, III and Jean Elizabeth Darby Self. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Denmark and worked at Advance Auto Parts in Columbia. Josh had a loving, tender heart, was a good friend to many, and never met a stranger. Hanging with his friends, fishing and boating were among his favorite pastimes. He also loved taking “Natty” to the Dog Night Fireflies games. Josh was a wonderful son, brother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Bill and Jean Self, survivors include his brothers, Darby Self (Anna Claire Pitts) of Columbia, SC, Jeremy (Ashtyn) Self of Orangeburg, SC, and Dylan Self of Denmark, SC; his girlfriend, Maddie Flowers; aunts, Dorothy Creech and the late Richard Creech, Mary (Bob) Morse, and Charlene (Kevin) Oley; uncles, Bryan (Christy) Self and Robert (Tammy) Self; paternal grandparents, Billy and Cathy Self of Denmark, SC and paternal great-grandmother, Margie Self of Denmark, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and his best buddy, “Natty”.
