Joseph “Joe” Monroe Lott, 93, of Blackville, SC passed away at home on Sunday, May 25, 2025. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at eleven o’clock a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Blackville First Baptist Church with Reverend Ken Frederick and Dr. Thomas Terry officiating; burial will follow in the Blackville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday and other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be sent in Mr. Monroe’s memory to the Blackville First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 217, Blackville, SC 29817 or the Blackville Cemetery, P.O. Box 365, Blackville, SC 29817.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Josh Bolen, Michael Beard, Joseph C. Lott, Ryan Mooney, Chuck Reames, and Kyle Shore. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Lott, Timmy Lott, Ben Lott, Mark Lott, Tim Riddle, Jay Tuttle, Ricky Lott, Derek Thacker, Jay Thacker, Lin Thacker, Bill Bodiford, Jay Gantt, Donnie Abbott, Rodney Rhinehart, Tim Flake, Dan Strawbridge, Mike Sullivan, Matt Morris, Heath Gantt, and John Clark.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to his caregivers, Meg Owens, Justin Folk, and Ralph Dickerson, Helping Hands Hospice, Professional Case Management, nurses, and staff for all of the love, concern and care that they provided for Mr. Monroe.
Born in Blackville, SC he was a son of the late Ben Tillman Lott and Inez Martin Lott. He was a Blackville High School graduate. He was a member of Blackville First Baptist Church where he served many years on the Building and Grounds Committee. His salvation was of the utmost importance to him; he exemplified his love of his Lord and Savior through his actions. He was an avid outdoorsmen who loved to garden and enjoyed giving his harvest to his friends. He retired as an HP Inspector having worked for DuPont and the Savannah River Site (Badge #16). One of his accomplishments was developing a cart called the “Joe Mobile” which was to carry contamination instrumentation detection used across DOE Complexes world-wide. He also served in the S.C. National Guard. Mr. Monroe was married to his wife, Marcia for almost 70 years. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren greatly and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Marcia Thacker Lott; his daughters, Maurica (Herman) Still and Wanda Lott; a son, Joseph (Caroline) M. Lott, Jr. grandchildren Cassie Still and her fiancé, Ryan Mooney, Joseph (Brittany) C, Lott, Brittany (Josh) Bolen, Kyle Shore, Kelcee Lott; great grandchildren Liam Bolen, Ellison Lott, Tillman Bolen and Cash Lott along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Lila Lott; his sister, Mildred Tuttle and his brothers, Claude Lott, Harold Lott, and Hammond Lott.
