Johnnie "Marvin" Johnson

Funeral services of Johnnie Marvin Johnson, 75, of Barnwell, SC will be held at three o’clock p.m., Friday, July 21, 2023 at Ghents Branch Baptist Church with the Reverends Dale Hutto and Bert Petty officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorial contributions may be given in Marvin’s honor to Ghents Branch Baptist Church, 1974 Ghents Branch Rd., Denmark, SC 29042 or Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 West Farris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605. Marvin passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023.

Born in Bamberg, SC, he was a son of the late Johnnie Rembert Johnson and Clarie Smith Johnson and was married to the late Martha Lynn Suddeth Johnson. He was a graduate of Denmark High School and was a member of Ghents Branch Baptist Church. He previously worked at SRS and OEI as a sheet metal fabricator and was a member of the Local Union # 399 Sheet Metal Workers in Charleston. He also ran J.J.’s Restaurant in Denmark and was a member of the Denmark Masonic Lodge #246 for a number of years and served in the U. S. Air National Guard.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer (Cody) Peeples of Barnwell, SC; a son, Michael “Mike” Johnson (Victoria Prickett) of Martinez, GA; grandchildren, Lane Wyatt Peeples, Alexis McKenzie Prickett, Liam Codi Prickett, and Alexa Lynn Johnson; a sister, Mary (Gerald) Lincoln of Goose Creek, SC; brothers, O’Dell (Ann) Johnson of Eutawville, SC, Douglas (Barbara) Johnson of Orangeburg, SC, and Gerald (Sharon) Johnson of Olar, SC; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
