John Wesley McHenry, Jr., 77, of Summerville, SC passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Graveside funeral services will be held at four o’clock p.m., Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Williston Cemetery with the Reverend Ken Catoe officiating. Memorial contributions may be sent in his memory to the Williston Cemetery, P.O. Box 367, Williston, SC 29853.
Born in Lawrenceburg, IN, he was a son of the late John Wesley McHenry, Sr. and Charolette Louise Lutherbeck McHenry. He was a member of Hagood Avenue Baptist Church, Barnwell, SC and the American Legion Post # 0166 in Goose Creek, SC. He retired from the U. S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sgt. E9 and then worked as a civilian and retired from the U. S. Coast Guard. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time hiking and fishing. One of his favorite pastimes was making memories with his granddaughters.
Survivors include his former wife and friend, Cheryl Spiers McHenry; daughter-in-law, Renee Givens McHenry of Barnwell, SC; a sister, Marsha Greene of Lawrenceburg, IN; a brother, Mike McHenry of Lawrenceburg, IN; grandchildren, Olivia Alice McHenry and Shelby Ann McHenry and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Wesley McHenry, III and a sister, Sue Lozier.
