John Allen, 60, of Williston, SC passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022.
A visitation celebrating his life will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel in Williston, SC. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Williston Masonic Hope Lodge #126, P.O. Box 53, Williston, SC 29853.
Born on the Eglin Air Force Base in Okaloosa County, FL he was a son of Florine Apperson Allen Youngblood and the late Dayton Sherman Allen, Jr. and was married to Sophie Mae Hatcher Allen. He was a 1980 graduate of Williston-Elko High School and was a member and served as past master of the Hope Masonic Lodge #126. John was the Waste Water Operator for the Town of Williston for a number of years. He enjoyed tinkering with “junk” and could fix anything that he put his hands on, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, pulling for the Florida Gators and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife Sophie; his mother, Florine Youngblood; a son Kenneth Aaron Widener, of Williston, SC; his brother, Dayton S. (Brenda) Allen, III of Elko, SC; a sister, Linda Fleming of Jacksonville, FL sisters-in-law, Cris Romano of Jacksonville, FL, Bonita (Gordon) Gray of Williston, SC and Brenda Thomas of Williston, SC; bonus brothers, Craig Chevrier and Rick Helms; numerous nieces and nephews and his four-legged grand dog, Sadie Mae Widener.
In addition to his dad he was preceded in death by his step-father Donald R. “Doc” Youngblood, Sr. a sister, Cassie Allen and a brother, Scott Allen.
