Born on July 2, 1938, in Blackville, SC, he was the oldest of seven children born to the late Royce and Beulah Elkins Still.
Joe was the proud owner of Joseph Still Trucking, where he hauled produce for more than 50 years. Known for his hard work and steady determination, Joe was respected by everyone who shared the road with him.
He was also known for having the shiniest chrome on an eighteen-wheeler in all 50 states – and he made sure everyone knew it. Over the years, Joe built and customized m any of his own trucks by hand, often turning wrenches well into the night. It was in the same shop that his children learned the value of hard work – and how to dodge a few flying hammers and wrenches along the way.
Joe is survived by his children, Aaron Still and Courtney (Jody) Still; grandchildren, Aubree, Cade, Clayton, and Colton; and great grandchildren, Beckleigh Still and Elijah Martin. He is also survived by his siblings, Randy (Frances) Still and Dianne Croft; sisters-in-law, Barbara Still, Dona Still, and Beverly (Ricky) Hodges; brothers-in-law, Wayne Poston and Milton (Jeanna) Kennedy; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
He also leaves behind a special “son”, Scott Mitchum, who held a cherished place in his heart and a special “daughter”, Trudy Collins.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 40 years, Rebecca Still; brothers, Jack and Ed Still; sisters, Mary Poston and Evon Diamond.
Joe’s life was one of hard work and loyalty – a legacy that will roll on through the miles of memories he left behind.
