Jimmie Otis Fenn

A Celebration of Life Service for 1SG Jimmie Otis Fenn US Army Ret., 93, of Evans, GA, formerly of Barnwell, SC will be held at twelve o’clock noon on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Hilda First Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors accorded. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hilda First Baptist Church, 145 Church St., Hilda, SC 29812. Mr. Jimmie passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

Born in Liberty, MS, he was a son of the late Hollis Clyde Fenn and Bertha Stone Fenn. He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of their children Carolyn Dyches Fenn. Jimmie was a decorated career retired U. S. Army Veteran having served three tours in Germany, a tour in South Korea and a tour in South Vietnam. He liked racing and loved NASCAR. Jimmie enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and camping. After his retirement from the Army, he served the public as an auto-mechanic in Barnwell, SC and Augusta, GA.  

Survivors include his wife, Maria Rooney-Fenn; a daughter, Melba Sue Smith; sons, Hollis Fenn, Richard Fenn, Thomas Fenn, John Fenn; his grandchildren, Michelle Fenn, Martina (Ryan) Hewitt, Michael (Sunshine) Fenn, Matthew Fenn, Brent Hall, Shelton Hall, Nicholas (Kayla) Fenn, Jessey (Kellsey) Fenn; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Jimmie was the youngest, and last of 14 siblings, he had 5 sisters and 8 brothers pass away along with daughters-in-law, Alice Fenn, Mary Ann Fenn and Dorothy S. Fenn and 2 grandsons, Jimmie A. Collins and Daniel W. Fenn.
