Jewell Chavis Hutson of Blackville passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 20th in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston with Pastor Johnny New officiating; burial will be at the Blackville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19th at Folk Funeral Home, Williston and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
Born in Neeses, she was the daughter of the late Sam & Evalena Chavis. She retired from the former Milliken plant in Barnwell where she worked as a weaver. She was a member of Pinehill Freewill Baptist Church in Blackville. Mrs. Hutson enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Survivors include a daughter, Marie (Bryant) Lawrimore of Blackville, a son, Walter Buff of Aiken, a daughter, Lisa (Randy) Bolen of Williston, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, her loving sister, Mamie Weaver of Orangeburg, whom she lived with for the past 10 years, a brother, Nazroe (Faye) Chavis of Orangeburg, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Sumter Hutson and a son, Elvis Still.
