Jane Richardson

Jane Richardson, “Plain Jane”, was born in Elko, SC on May 16, 1944, the only daughter of Jacob O. and Frankie Sapp Richardson.  She departed this life on Monday, October 7, 2024 at her home.

   Jane was educated in the Williston, SC public school system.  In 1968 Jane joined the United States Women’s Army Corps, an endeavor that she was very proud of.  Following her discharge from the Women’s Army Corps, Jane spent several years as a member of the Army Reserves.
   In addition to Jane’s military service, she held several other jobs throughout her life.  She was a Savannah Crane Operator and Private Investigator. She then took a position at ChemNuclear where she worked in Security for twelve years.  After leaving ChemNuclear, Jane became the first female Jailor at the Barnwell County Detention Center, her final place of employment.
   Jane loved planting and nourishing flowers, cutting grass, and keeping up her yard. She loved birds, and always made sure the birdbaths and hummingbird feeders were full.  Her house was always spotless, and her yard was always beautiful. In addition to this, Jane loved Karaoke and was an avid reader, often finishing a book in one sitting.  If she was not reading, she could be found watching True Crime shows on TV.  Jane’s greatest love was her family and friends.

   In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry M. Richardson and Milton O’neal Richardson, as well as a nephew, Ronnie Richardson.

   Those left to cherish Jane’s memory are: a daughter, Karen “Dink” Weimortz Gainey; a brother, Jimmy Franklin (Cheryl) Richardson; grandchildren, Donald Craig Weber, Jr. and Troy Jacob Peeples; great-grandchildren, Derrick Weber, Marley Weber and Kase Peeples; nephews, Scotty Richardson (Tandra Rhoad), James Richardson, Brian Richardson and Travis Richardson; niece, Megan Waldrop; great-niece, Katy Richardson; great-nephew, Brandon Richardson; “daughter of the heart”, Glenda (Carey) Cavanah; “sister of the heart”, Souharti “Sue” Lanier; special cousins, Donnie (Debby) Nease, Barry (Sybil) Nease, Sissy (Randy) Blewer, Jeffery (Joyce) Sapp, Larry McDonald, Danny (Sandy) McDonald, Beverly Smithy and Nancy Bradham; special friends, Edie (Kevin) Wilson, Karen Gray and Virginia Taylor; very special cousin/helper, Mickey Richardson, as well as a host of other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at four o’clock p.m., Sunday, October 13, 2024 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Tom Baker officiating.
